FAQ
Boat rental questions
Everything people ask before a day on Kal Lake or Okanagan Lake.
Do I need a boating licence?
The driver needs proof of competency, such as a Pleasure Craft Operator Card. For most rental boats, the operator can instead complete a Transport Canada rental boat safety checklist with you at pickup. Sea-Doo drivers must be 16 or older. Bring photo ID.
What is included in the price?
The boat for your time slot, life jackets for adults and, on surf boats, water toys. Fuel and taxes (GST and PST) are extra and paid to the operator at pickup.
How does payment work?
You pay a non-refundable booking deposit to hold your boat. At pickup, the rental operator (not us) collects the balance, fuel and taxes and places a security deposit hold on your credit card (about $1,000 to $2,000, depending on the boat: $1,000 for a pontoon, $1,200 for a Sea-Doo, $2,000 for a surf boat on Kal Lake). When you return, the fuel you used comes off the hold and the rest is released to your card.
What if the weather is bad?
The operator makes the safety call on the day. If the weather is bad, your booking deposit becomes a gift card for a future rental, with no expiry date.
What if I can't make it?
Booking deposits are non-refundable, but they are never lost. If you can't make your day because of weather, illness or anything else, let us know and your deposit becomes a gift card for a future rental, later this season or whenever you come back. If a mechanical breakdown of the boat means you can't go out, we add an extra $100 to your gift card for the trouble.
Which lake should I choose?
Kal Lake is smaller and calmer with turquoise water; Okanagan Lake is bigger with more room to roam and more boat choices. Tell us what you are hoping for and we will match you with the best boat in the best spot.
Whose boat will I be on?
We always hope it is one of our own boats. If we cannot accommodate you, we will place your booking with one of our trusted local rental partners, and let you know who they are when we confirm.
Can you deliver to Kekuli Bay?
Yes. Choose Kekuli Bay as your launch when you book. A delivery fee applies and is shown before you pay.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not allowed on Okanagan Lake rental boats. Ask us about Kal Lake.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes. Call or text us and we will set one up for any amount.
